Lesson learned from today's run .
2) What you head and drink the day before matters.
3) Telling yourself right before your run to NOT think about your run, makes you think about your run the whole friggin time.
4) Run with My Guy is really motivating and keeps me going, without him it is harder.
So #2 - Let's review yesterday's eating/drinking:
Brunch - Huevos Rancheros, (2 fried eggs, some beans, 1/2 Cheese Quesadilla) jalapeno corn bread, 2 margaritas and 1 cappuccino
Dinner/Snack-ish - Chips and Salsa (only a half a basket between the two of us), 3 margaritas
Movie Snack - Shared popcorn with M&M's sprinkled in and a Slurpie (wild cherry)
Post Movie - Half a bottle of red and Half a bottle of white wine. Pepperoni slices.
The good news - I got out there and did not spend the day talk about how I needed to go for a run. Another upside - I have a great deal of room to improve :)
Last night I built a lot of a cardboard boat, had some beer and some bad food, but that was yesterday. I woke up today, charged to now that I am now on the clock, and I don't want to let anyone down. I planned to swim across the lake is AM before life bogged me down with chores, responsibilities and politeness. I am at my in-laws summer house in New Hampshire and my time is not my own. I intended to 'force' some non-productive time in the morning by waterproofing the cardboard. It needs an hour or two to let dry, and therein lies the opportunity. Without a sound, I could slip into the lake, swim across, and have a car waiting on the other side. The fewer people that knew of my plan the better; less explaining, less suggestions, less delay.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the window closed as breakfast was served as I was applying the waterproofer. Opportunity missed. When I finally got my boat chassis built, it started pouring, but no electrical storms. Not ideal, but I don't care at this point. I am not about to be robbed of what I need to do. I work on the cardboard boat a little bit longer, see an opportunity to escape and I do. Kim suggests I take a life jacket with me, and I know that is a good idea, but I don't have one. I grab a kids boogie board, attach the leash to my wrist and jump into the lake. It is 2:44 as I begin a swim across the lake to the activity center - about a mile away. I get to the other side in 54 minutes, and I feel super proud of my feat; I'm not a swimmer. I get a ride back and we all go out to dinner - where I chose all good things... and no beer. One down, a lifetime to go.
